Alabama State Representative
The Honorable Patricia Todd

Representative Patricia Todd was the guest speaker at the 2009 Birmingham CROP Walk. She has agreed to return for the 2010 event.

The organizers of the 2009 Birmingham CROP Walk were proud to present Alabama State Representative, Patricia Todd, as their special guest at the pre-walk event. She was on hand to deliver a few inspirational words before the walk began.  And she led the march as the walk commenced.  What a wonderful opportunity it was for participants to meet their Representative in Montgomery.

Elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2006, and named Freshman Legislator of the Year in 2008, Patricia Todd represents House District 54, which includes 40,443 residents in the Birmingham area, including Downtown, Southside, Crestwood, Woodlawn, and Irondale. She was mentioned in "USA Today" on Friday, April 10, in the "News From Every State" section:

"Alabama: Montgomery
- Democratic Representative Patricia Todd became the 10th person in the 104 member state House to turn down an automatic $150-a-month pay raise.  She said she had written to House Clerk Greg Pappas and said she could not in good faith take a pay raise when there are people in her inner-city Birmingham district who are out of work."

Rep. Patricia Todd is the Chair and Founder of Alabama's Poverty Task Force.

Kevin McCoy, Mid-South Regional Director for CROP Walk, acknowledged the note in USA Today and commented on Representative Todd's "excellent example of servant leadership."
