SAFETY & COMFORT

We want all our walkers to have a safe and enjoyable experience.  For the safety of all participants, the route is marked with signs.  Route maps are available.  All walkers should stay on the sidewalks and obey all traffic crossing regulations.   The streets are not blocked off for this event, so cross streets with care, looking both ways for oncoming traffic.  All dogs participating in the walk should be on a leash.  No bikes, roller blades, or recreational wheels allowed.  Wheelchairs, strollers, wagons to pull small children, and all other necessary wheels are welcome.

n Walker Safety Instructions

Two “Sag” Wagons (Van or car marked with CROP logo) can be flagged down for assistance if any walker is unable to finish the walk.  Many thanks to Michael Ponder at Baptist Church of the Covenant and Steve Orazine at First Christian Church or providing the Sag Wagons.

A Water Stop is being provided along the walk route today at the fountain at Five Points, in front of Highlands United Methodist Church.  Thanks to Reggie Holder and Kristen Harper at Highlands United Methodist Church for providing this service.

-MARIAN WRIGHT EDELMAN

"Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life."
-NELSON MANDELA

"We know that a peaceful world cannot long exist one-third rich and two-thirds hungry."
