"Extra intellectual and material
gifts bring with them the privilege and responsibility of sharing with
others less fortunate. Service is the rent we pay for living. It is
the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time."

PRE-WALK EVENT
New location: Caldwell Park. New starting
point. Same walk route.
Fun in the park before the walk! Excellent
speakers! Great entertainment! The pre-walk program begins
at 1:45 PM in Caldwell Park. This will be a good time to socialize and
meet your fellow walkers.
Come early and enjoy the
music, entertainment,
activities and more!
Between 1:45 and 2:30, as
walk participants arrive and registration takes, place prior to the
start of the walk, a short warm-up program will be presented. The
pre-walk program will feature guest speakers, announcements,
entertainment, music, and other activities.
We are proud to feature as our special guest speaker, for the second
year in a row, our State Legislator for Birmingham District 54, Rep.
Patricia Todd. She will be on hand to offer her support and
encouragement and to lead off the walk. She is the Chair of the Alabama
Task Force on Poverty.
Representative Patricia Todd was
the guest speaker at the 2009 Birmingham CROP Walk. She has agreed to
return for the 2010 event.

COMMUNITY EVENT
The Birmingham CROP Hunger Walk
is the community coming together to
raise money and awareness for hunger relief... locally and around the
world. Over 2000 CROP Walks happen every year nationwide.
Walkers are asked to obtain pledge dollars from family, neighbors,
colleagues and places of worship for their participation in a 5
kilometer walk (3.1 miles).
Everyone is invited to participate in the Birmingham CROP Hunger Walk.
It is a family walk event, not a race. It's fun for all ages.
It is a community event involving anyone who wants to fight hunger
around the block and around the world. The Birmingham CROP Hunger Walk
encourages the active involvement of teams and individuals from public
and private schools, civic and cultural groups, area businesses and all
faith groups.
There is no fee to participate. But each walker is encouraged to raise
at least $100. The Birmingham CROP Hunger Walk hopes to raise $30,000
in 2010.
And every walker gets a free CROP Walk t-shirt!
